All companies should conduct immediate and ongoing daily inspection of facepieces and report any damages IMMEDIATELY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Air Management Division is conducting 2021 annual mask fit testing. We are starting to notice cracks and chips in the lenses of our personnel facepieces.  We are not sure if this is caused by operational accidents, misuse or improper storage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refer to the guidelines of 3M Scott user instructions<\/a> (see pages 13 and 14) and IFD GO 6.2.2.3 Face Piece Maintenance<\/a> for the correct way to inspect and store your gear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Report SCBA equipment problems in the morning with your daily check on the main Air screen<\/a>. If something occurs after that, you can 1.) Submit another SCBA daily check -OR- 2.) Submit a FIX request right on your mask’s page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to FIND\/SUBMIT A FIX REQUEST On YOUR MASK’s PAGE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Go to main air screen at http:\/\/ifdresourc.es\/air<\/a> and click the search icon in the main menu<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Type in your PSID in big search bar… WAIT (don’t press enter)… results will appear automatically<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Scroll down in the results to your mask page and click it to open.

IF YOU DON’T SEE A MASK ASSIGNED TO YOU IN THE SEARCH RESULTS, CONTACT THE AIR MANAGEMENT OFFICE ASAP. We need to get the piece in your possession registered to you in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Click the FIX button, enter your PSID, write problem description and submit. DONE. Fix requests will appear on the Fix Tickets page<\/a> and a TSU operator will follow up with ASAP to discuss the problem, find a solution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reminder:  DO NOT<\/strong> store the face piece with the regulator attached.  When on duty the regulator should be stored using the regulator holder located on the waist belt of the SCBA harness.  DO NOT<\/strong> store face piece with head net over the front of the face piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Station officers, please remind your crews of the importance of daily checks.  Let’s continue doing our part to ensure that issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.  Please do not hesitate to contact the Air Management Office if you have any questions or concerns about inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
