Firefighters must formally indicate their intent to participate in the 2026 Promotion Process. This must be done by completing the Intent to Participate Form at IFD Headquarters (955 Fort Wayne Avenue, 46202). Please see Human Resources. The promotion sign-up period will be April 27 – May 21, 2026. The sign-up process will be open from 0830 to 1600 hours, Monday through Friday, except on a holiday. Failure to complete the Intent to Participate Form during the sign-up period will exclude a firefighter from participating in the 2026 Promotion Process. Firefighters who are performing military service and are stationed at a site that makes it impossible for them to appear in person at the IFD Headquarters may sign up for the promotion process by contacting Deputy Chief Matt Henss at 317-327-3348 or matt.henss@indy.gov.
